Week 15 saw another rare win for the House. The members could only post 9 correct wins to the House’s 11. After fourteen weeks of slop, the score is 8 to 4 in favor of the members,
with three pushes. Everybody's favorite sim, NFL Madden
08 on the
Xbox 360, came in with a 9-7 record again.
After 15 weeks of the 2007 regular season, the numbers are:
| * | TheManRoom | Madden Sim | Members |
| Week 15: | 11-5 | 9-7 | 9-7 |
| 2007
Overall: | 135-89 | 96-108 | 144-81 |
The Challenge
Four games were disagreed with this week, and against all odds, the House
picked three of them correctly. The best picks of the week were the Houston
Texans over the Denver Broncos and the Miami Dolphins over the Baltimore
Ravens. We all saw how the Denver game went down... oh wait, maybe you
didn't. The other two picks were the Skins over the Giants, which was
correct, and the Cards over the Saints, which went the way of the members.
Four members picked 12 out of 16 games correctly this week, all of them
picked the same way in the Monday night contest. With the best overall pick
record on the season, ChargersSBCHAMP will take home this week’s prize:
Hellboy: Sword of Storms DVD. Congrats!
The League
Well, they did it. The biggest story in week 15 was that the Miami Dolphins
notched their first victory in 2007 season, just as the House predicted.
Next up for the Phins is heading into Foxboro to play the scumbag cheaters*.
I might just go with the Dolphins in that contest.
Some of the teams that have already locked up playoff berths didn't help
themselves out too much in week 15. The Pittsburgh Steelers, who have
controlled the AFC North all season long, now find themselves in a
first-place tie with the Cleveland Browns. The Stillers hold the
head-to-head tie breaker against the Browns, but they also play their final
two games on the road.
Seattle and Dallas didn't help themselves either, losing to inferior
opponents and possibly squandering playoff positioning. We'll see how this
all pans out, but the Dallas Cowboys better watch it... there is nothing the
NFL would want more than King Favre hosting the NFC Championship Game. The
first step towards guaranteeing that may have been taken already in the
suspension of Roy Williams for the excessive use of a tackle that HE forced
the NFL to ban. Here's a tip for the NFL... you made the Dallas defense
better for one game with that move.
Fantasy Land
Look at these guys! No really sexy names lead the stat categories this
week. Sure, Big Ben is a name, but he's more of a game manager than a big
numbers QB. The bottom line is that there weren't many touchdowns scored
this week.
The top fantasy performances in week 15 were:
Quarterback:
Ben Roethlisberger - Pittsburgh Steelers
In 29-22 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars
16/33 for 146 yards, 3 TDs.
Running Back:
Aaron Stecker - New Orleans Saints
In 31-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals
22 carries for 95 yards, 2 TDs. 6 catches for 46 yards
Receivers:
Roydell Williams - Tennessee Titans
In 26-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs
4 catches for 94 yards, 2 TD.
Defense:
Mario Williams - Houston Texans
In 31-13 win over the Denver Broncos
5 tackles, 2 assists, 3.5 sacks.
Clunker of the week:
Tony Romo - Dallas Cowboys
In 10-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles
13/36 for 214 yards, 0 TD, 3 INT.
